Fact Check: Photo of Flipkart package with funny Hyderabad address is photoshopped

Hyderabad: A photo of a funny address on a Flipkart delivery package is being widely shared on social media. The package lists the customer as Salim Lala and the address as "12Z1, Pasha bhai ki dukhan kan aake puchlo, Salim Lala kidhar rehte, seedha ghar tak lake chodte. Charminar- 500002 Hyderabad". (At Pasha bhai's shop, ask where Salim Lala lives. They'll bring you straight to my doorstep.)

Fact Check:

The viral photo with the funny Hyderabad address is FAKE. It has been photoshopped and the address on the image changed to Hyderabad.

NewsMeter performed a Google reverse image search and found a few articles published in July 2020 after Flipkart had tweeted the same image with an unusual address in Rajasthan.

Flipkart had posted the picture of the package with the caption, "Taking 'Ghar ek mandir hai' to a whole new level! The address on the original package contained '448, Chaoth mata mandir, mandir ke samne aate hi phone laaga lena mein aa jauga (448 Chaoth mata temple, come in front of the temple and call me, I will come), Shivpura, Rajasthan."

The package number and other details are the same on the image tweeted by Flipkart and the viral image.

This image went viral on social media in July 2020 and several media outlets had reported the incident.
