HYDERABAD: A purported channel of Press Information Bureau (PIB) has been created on Telegram. The group has over 8000 subscribers and has been active since 2019.
FACT CHECK:
This account is fake.
The account has been active since 2019 and has been sharing PIB updates on the group. However, the last message shared on the group was on December 16, 2020. It should be noted that if this was the official account, updates would have continued to be posted just like it's being done on other social media platforms.
The official Twitter account of the PIB tweeted that the Telegram channel "http://t.me/pibenglish" that claims to be the official channel is fake. It noted that PIB is not on Telegram.
Many other PIB accounts were found on Telegram. All those are fake. PIB is officially not on Telegram.
Evidently, the PIB account on Telegram is fake.
