Hyderabad: A video of a man dressed as a Hindu deity is widely being shared on social media
Social media users are claiming that the young boy dressed as a Hindu deity was seeking money from people. Users say that a Muslim refuses to give him money.
"Shame on such people! He had money and took it out from his pocket but did not give it to the poor," reads the message
Fact Check
The claim is False.
NewsMeter began its investigation by carefully having a look at the video. At 0:11 seconds, we see a shortstop that seemed like two videos were being merged.
Apart from this, we also noticed that at 0:08 seconds, the video had a subtitle that read, "Then the Muslim guy gave him some money." The video had no other subtitles apart from this.
We then performed a Google Reverse Image Search of a screengrab from the viral video. The search led us to a similar video uploaded by a Facebook user named 'Priya' on April 20, 2022.
The original video was around 3 minutes long. The description of the video read, "This is Amazing. Thank you for watching. Please be aware that this page features scripted dramas and parodies as well. These short films are for entertainment and education purposes only."
We then watched the original video carefully. We noticed that the entire video not only had subtitles but also had a different context portrayed through the video. In the video, the man dressed as a Hindu deity is a poor boy who asks for help from the people at the bus stop. After the girls give him some money, he goes toward this Muslim couple. The Muslim man speaks to him about why is he asking for money. The boy explains his poor condition. The Muslim man then gives some cash to the boy. The boy then blesses the couple and leaves.
Having a closer look at the video, it was even clear that the viral video had included two different parts of the video.
The end of the original video had a disclaimer that read, "This reel life footage is published only to entertain the public by making them understand how the real world situations will be and picturized to educate the public. Characters in this video are for entertainment and education purposes."
Apart from this, NewsMeter debunked many such videos earlier, which can be viewed here.
