Fact Check: Scripted video falsely shared with a communal twist

Hyderabad: A video of a young boy trying to steal a girl's scooty is being widely shared on social media. It is being claimed that the boy belongs to a different community.

Fact Check

The claim is false.

NewsMeter performed a Google reverse image search of a screengrab from the viral video. The search led us Sanjjanaa Galrani's Facebook page who had posted a similar video on 23 December 2021.

The original video was around 3:15 minutes long (the viral video is 2:20 minutes long). The video ended with a disclaimer that it was scripted and was for entertainment purposes only. However, we noticed that in the viral video the disclaimer was shown for just a second so people may miss reading it.

Many such similar short videos were posted on Sanjjanaa Galrani's Facebook page.

It is therefore evident that the claim made through the viral post is false. A scripted video is being shared as real and with a communal twist.
