Hyderabad: Social media users are claiming that Tata Motors has launched a new taxi service Cab-e in Mumbai and Pune.

The text written in Hindi can be translated as: "Tata has launched a new taxi service Cab e in Mumbai and Pune. The better alternative to Ola and Uber…Tata always helps the nation in tough times. I request all of you to share this as much as possible. Download the app on Play Store."

Along with the text, a link to download the application from the play store is also shared.

NewsMeter received the viral text on WhatsApp.

We also found a post on Facebook by a user on March 19, 2022.

Fact Check

The claim is False.

On clicking the link, we were directed to the play store. We then searched about the application in the about section. However, we did not find any mention of the service being owned by the Tata group.

We also searched about the service on their website.

According to the information on the website, "CAB-EEZ Infra Tech (P) Limited (Brand Name: "Cab-e") is a Technology Marketplace providing Technology Platform (built in-house) which supports a mobile-based online Cab booking service for an All-Electric Fleet of Cabs - for Local, Inter-City, Rentals, Tailored B2B services and customized trips - with the sole aim of significantly contributing to the Indian government's push for 100% electric mobility by 2030."

We searched the company's social media handle and found a post on its Facebook page. CAB-E's post dated March 29, 2019, clarified that it is a privately owned organization and Tata has no stake in it.

A similar post was also shared by the organization on their LinkedIn page a year ago.

Hence, it is evident that the claim made through the viral message is False. Tata groups did not start Cab-e services in Pune and Mumbai.
