Fact Check: ‘Telangana Scribe’ does not exist, viral news clippings about BRS leaders are fabricated
Claim:‘Telangana Scribe’ newspaper clippings report on controversial remarks made by BRS leaders involving exorbitant amounts paid to the party fund and internal fights over the role of KCR and KTR.
Fact:The claims are false. Telangana Scribe news organisation does not exist and the viral newspaper clippings are fabricated.

Hyderabad: Several newspaper clippings making allegations against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party leaders are circulating on social media. These Telugu newspaper clippings claim that the BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the MLAs have made sensational and controversial remarks.

Recently, four more newspaper clippings under ‘Telangana Scribe’ have surfaced.

Among the four newspaper clippings that have surfaced online, the first one claims that BRS MLA and former Minister Malla Reddy revealed in a press conference that he gave Rs 300 crores to the party fund to become a minister. Another one claims that BRS MLA Asannagari Jeevan Reddy has said that he earned thousands of crores with the chance given by KCR.

The third newspaper clipping claims that BRS MLAs have written to the party chief saying that the party will survive only if the working president, K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), is removed. The fourth clipping claims that, during a media interaction, KCR said that he may not contest the next election.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the viral claims are false. The banner and the logos of these newspaper clippings show that they have been published by ‘Telangana Scribe’, which is not a real newspaper. NewsMeter has fact-checked many fake newspaper clippings from this non-existent outlet.

Analysis of the e-clippings

As with any other e-paper clipping, Telangana Scribe clippings have a headline, key points and image; the report and a banner consist of a logo, a date and a link. The banners of these newspaper clippings do not provide any direct link to the report or the news website. However, a link to an X profile is given in the banner.

What is the source of the news in the clippings?

It is noteworthy that all four newspaper clippings mention the source of the controversial remarks as interactions with the media. However, we have not found any such news reports showing that the BRS leaders have indeed made such comments to the press.

Telangana Scribe is not a registered news organisation

To find out if the news organisation is a periodical, we searched for the registration of ‘Telangana Scribe’ on the website of the Press Registrar General of India. The website can be used to verify the registration of titles in India. Using this website, we found that the title ‘Telangana Scribe’ does not exist.

We found a website at the URL telanganascribe.com. According to Whois, a domain lookup website that helps trace the ownership and tenure of a domain name, the domain was registered on May 17. Whereas, the domain telanganascribedigital.com has not been registered yet.

Analysis of the website

On this Telangana Scribe website, we found articles on a variety of topics such as Telangana and Andhra Pradesh politics, education updates and general news. The date of publishing on the posts on this website is only up to July 2025. We did not find any reports published after July. The logo from the newspaper clippings is also missing from the website. We also did not find any posts showing the viral claims.

This confirms that the website is not connected to the viral newspaper clippings.

What about the social media handles of Telangana Scribe?

The banner on the newspaper clippings contains the logos of social media platforms like X, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, along with the username ‘Telanganascribe’.

We also found that there are no WhatsApp channels with this username. There are no Facebook or Instagram accounts by the name ‘Telangana Scribe’ that have posted the viral newspaper clippings.

The link on the banner directed us to an X profile by the name ‘im dharani’. The profile picture of this account is of a woman, unlike the X accounts of other news organisations that use their logos in the profile picture. The X profile has been inactive since February 2023 and does not have any posts relating to Telangana Scribe.

We found another X account by the name ‘Telangana Scribe’ with the username ‘tscribe4u’. The profile picture matches the logo on the newspaper clippings and it posted the viral newspaper clippings.

However, the account does not contain any general news reports. It is also not linked to any news website. This indicates that the account has been sharing the Telugu newspaper clippings with false information.

Police complaint on ‘Telangana Scribe’

Regarding the action taken on the fake news outlet, we found a report published by The Times of India on November 15 titled, ‘Suryapet MLA files complaint over defamatory posts’.

The report states that former minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy and his wife lodged a criminal complaint with the Hyderabad cybercrime police against the X account ‘@tscribe4u’ for allegedly publishing a false and fabricated story accusing the legislator of domestic violence.

It is clear that the news organisation ‘Telangana Scribe’ does not exist. The newspaper clippings and the information published in them are fake. NewsMeter has debunked several such fake newspaper clippings. You can read the reports here, here and here.
