Hyderabad: Twitter users are claiming that Telugu actor Suman has donated 117 acres of land to the Indian Army.
Fact Check:
In 2019, it was reported that Suman's family had bought 175 acres of land in Yadadri, Telangana, and had originally planned to build an Ayurvedic resort on it. However, in an interview, the actor had said his family had later decided to donate the land to the families of the Army, Navy, and Defense personnel. (Source: ETV Telangana, STV News 24/7)
Later, Suman had said a case over the lands was pending in court due to double registrations and that the site would be handed over to the soldiers as soon as the court ruled. In 2020, the actor had addressed the issue and said the dispute over the site was still pending in the court. (Source: Samayam)
In February 2022, Suman had issued a clarification again stating that the case is still pending in court. The actor said that he will personally reveal the details to the media once the dispute is over. He said, "The news that I have given 117 acres of land to the Indian Army is untrue. There is no truth in this news going viral on social media. The dispute over that land is still in court. I will let everyone know as soon as the dispute is resolved." Clearly, actor Suman has not donated 117 acres to the Indian Army. The case regarding the land is pending in court. Thus, the claim is false.
