Hyderabad: A Telugu daily published a photo of a hand pump atop a man-made trench claiming to show evidence of Kakinada city MLA Chandrasekhar Reddy's involvement in illegal mining in Peddapuram, a town in Andhra Pradesh.

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found that the same photo has been available on the internet since 2018. The viral image has been used since 2018 as stock images for blogs or to create memes on the internet.

While the origin of the photo is unknown, the photo does not show evidence of Kakinada city MLA Chandrasekhar Reddy's involvement in illegal mining. It has no relevance to Andhra Pradesh.

The same picture was viral in 2021 as well but was debunked by the Andhra Pradesh fact-check team. The team has clearly said that the post has been identified as a source of misleading information and reported to the officials for misinformation. (Read here)

The same has again been flagged as misinformation in 2022.
