Latestly also reported about the viral video.
Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found a tweet by a verified Twitter user who said the video was shot on 6 August 2021 at Samoha Dam, near Karera town in Shivapuri district, Madhya Pradesh. He said the video was shot by a man named Sumith and provided a YouTube link.
We clicked on the link and found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel.
Though it is clear that this is not a recent video from the Pocharam Project this does not prove the authenticity of the video.
We found a few users who had mentioned different locations for the same video in the comment section. A user also claimed that the video was an old one and provided a YouTube link. This proves that this video has been shared many times.
Lastly, we performed a keyword search and found the same video uploaded by V6 News Telugu with the title "Fishes swim upstream." It was dated 10 July 2022 and claimed the video was shot in Dichpally in Nizamabad district.
Although the exact origin of the video is still a mystery, it's quite evident that this is not a video from Pocharam Project, Telangana.
