Hyderabad: A post claiming that Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to "ban beef export companies" is viral on WhatsApp. The post is titled "Annamalai's letter to PM Modi" and the text reads, "Gomata is like our mother so we should ban beef export companies and take action against those who run such companies."


Fact Check

NewsMeter could not find any news reports or official statements that confirmed the claim. If Annamalai had written such a letter to Modi, the media would have reported it. But we found no such reports.

The logo of Kathir News can be seen in the viral post. However, Kathir has denied issuing such a news report and said the post is fake.

It is clear that Annamalai has not written a letter to the PM seeking a ban on beef export companies. Thus, the claim is false.
