Hyderabad: NewsMeter found a post claiming that Uma Devi, a Chennai-based delivery woman working for Zomato, rides around 250 to 300 km regularly to deliver food. She has had no cancellations or late deliveries, the post claims.



She has been taking care of her son following the death of her husband 10 years ago, it further says and adds that for her excellent service, she has received a diamond star from Zomato.

The claim is true.

NewsMeter performed a keyword search and found many news reports about Uma Devi.

A report by Times Now News published on 15 September 2020 said Uma has been awarded a diamond star for excellence. It added that she travels 250-300 kms on her bike every day and yet has no cancellations and delayed deliveries against her name. Uma lost her husband 10 years ago and looks after her son all by herself.

Uma's story was also reported by News18 on 15 September 2020. According to the report, her story was shared on Twitter by a woman with the username Sukriti Chakravarty on 11 September. Uma, according to the tweet, lost her husband 10 years ago. Since then she has been taking care of her house and son. The single mother travels nearly 300km a day to deliver food on her motorcycle.

Therefore, the claim is true.
