Hyderabad: A post is widely being shared on social media related to the UP election schedule.
Users claim that the UP election will be held in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh. Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 4, February 8, February 11, February 15, February 19, February 23, and February 28.
Fact Check
The claim is False.
NewsMeter began its investigation by searching for UP election dates. However, we did not find any information.
Meanwhile, the team found a report published by Patrika on December 18, 2021. The report was titled, "UP Assembly Election 2022: Know when the election dates will be announced, voting will be held in 7-8 phases."
"The Election Commission of India has intensified preparations for the UP election 2022. Only a few months are left for the assembly elections. The dates have not been announced yet. It is believed that after January 5, the Election Commission can announce the dates of the assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, Manipur anytime," the report said.
On searching further, the team found a tweet dated December 13, 2016. The tweet was posted by Anil Tiwari, founder, and CEO of WeUttarPradesh. He had posted a similar message before the 2017 election in UP.
A similar claim was also posted by a few Facebook users in 2016.
The team lastly searched for any information related to the UP poll on the official website of the State Election Commission. The team did not find any such information or updates.
It is therefore evident that the claim is False. The election schedule has not been announced.
