Fact Check:

The claim that the driver ran over the women intentionally is MISLEADING.

According to reports, it was an accident that occurred in Amritsar and was not an intentional attempt to ram the participants of the farmers' protest. Two women died and three others were seriously injured after a water tanker ran over a group of women in Vallah, Amritsar. They were going to join the sit-in being held in favour of the farmers' protests, according to Sanjiv Kumar, the SHO of Vallah police station, reported NDTV.

According to zee5.com, "A group of 50-60 women was going to the protest site (in Vallah) in solidarity with the farmers' protests when a water tanker ran over them. The villagers captured the driver and called the police to the accident site."

People also thrashed the driver on the spot. The police later filed a case and took the driver into custody. All the injured have been admitted to the Guru Ramdas Hospital.

The SHO, Vellah Sanjeev Kumar, said the driver has been identified as Shuklal Singh and an FIR has been filed against him under sections 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code.

The SHO also confirmed that the driver had no political affiliations with any party.
