Fact Check: Video of Donald Trump working in his hotel, cleaning bathroom is from 2011

Facebook users are posting the video with the caption, "Trump... tired of sitting down and decided to do some work in his hotel, which he owns: He moves bags between rooms and cars, walks the dogs, delivers food to rooms, tidies up rooms and cleans bathrooms. Doing anything... is better than sitting idle."

The claim that the video shows former US President Donald Trump working in a hotel after his retirement is FALSE. The video is NOT recent.

A search using the keywords "Trump working in Hotel" led to several YouTube links from over the years. The viral video has been shared in 2016 and also in 2018.

According to an article in huffpost.com from 2015, the video was taken in 2011, before Trump became the President. It said "The Oprah Winfrey Show" wanted to find out what would happen when the man who owns the Trump Hotel Collection took on some basic staff duties at his luxury chain. Trump participated and did all the chores which included walking a dog, cleaning a bathroom, and serving guests.

Daily News had also reported the same in an article titled "Donald Trump works low-level jobs at his own hotel on 'Oprah Winfrey Show'".

The same video was also posted on Dailymotion.com with the description, "Donald Trump spending a day in the shoes of his employees at Trump Tower Chicago. Aired on the Oprah Winfrey show, 2011."

According to fabiosa.com, in 2011, Trump did a segment for the Oprah Winfrey Network in which he agreed to work four different jobs at his hotel in New York for one full day. Trump showed up in high spirits and was ready to take on the day!

"First, he tried himself at the bellhop role, he carried suitcases revealing that he hasn't even done it for himself in a long time. Then, it was time to do the dog walking services. Trump admitted it wasn't the most fun because he had to be out in the cold while the pup was doing its business," the article said.

"The third job was room service. Donald served one of the rooms and saw how things happened in the kitchen. Lastly, he had to perform housekeeping, including making the beds and vacuuming, which is something we're sure he hasn't done in decades," it added.

Newsmeter tried to find the video on The Oprah Winfrey Show website. While we found a page named 'Donald Trump gets put to work', the video was not available. By the time stamp of the post, we can verify that the video was posted by ophrah.com in February 2011.

Therefore, a video which is almost 10 years old is being shared as recent. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
