Hyderabad: A video of a flood-like situation with gas cylinders floating in water is viral on social media.

Social media users are claiming that it happened in Kashipur city of Uttarakhand.

The claim is False.

NewsMeter firstly performed a Google Reverse Image Search which led us to a video report aired on the YouTube channel of The Quint on August 07, 2021. The team found the video to be the same as that of the viral video. The video was titled "Madhya Pradesh Floods: Lakhs Affected as Incessant Rainfall Triggers Severe Flooding in MP"


The team then found a video news report on the website of Asian News News on August 07, 2021. The viral video can also be seen in the report.

According to the report, "A video of the fierce form of the flood has surfaced. The video is from Guna, Madhya Pradesh. Where hundreds of gas cylinders are seen flowing in the flood. The flood of water was such that the cylinder was washed away."

ETV Bharat also reported the incident on August 06, 2021. It was headlined `Madhya Pradesh: Floodwater entered the plant, LPG cylinders flowed in the strong current'.

"The havoc of floods and heavy rains continues in Madhya Pradesh. Many rivers are flowing above the danger mark. Here, floodwater entered the National Fertilizer Plant in Guna. The floodwater had entered the rear of the National Fertilizer Plant. During this, the cylinders of LPG gas kept in the plant got washed away in the strong flow of water. A large number of gas cylinders were seen landing in the water," the report said.

The team found a video report aired by TV9 Bharatvarsh on August 06, 2021. It was titled `Cylinder flows after water entered in a gas plant in Guna of Madhya Pradesh'.


It is therefore evident that the claim is False. The video of gas cylinders floating in water is from Madhya Pradesh and not Uttarakhand.
