Fact Check: Video of group of men beating woman made using clips from UP, MP incidents
A video of a group of men thrashing a woman with sticks has gone viral on social media.

Hyderabad: A video of a group of men thrashing a woman with sticks has gone viral on social media.

According to the social media users, miscreants beat a woman to death in Lodipur Bishnoi. It is being claimed that the video is from UP.
The claim is misleading.
NewsMeter found that the viral video was edited and made from two videos.
The video first shows the woman being thrashed. Later, a boy speaks to the camera and appeals to his friends to share the video. He can be heard saying, "Friends, I have recently uploaded a video which is my sister's dead body. The address is Lodhipur, Bishnoi. Friends, right now I am at the police station. The policemen are not taking any action; only you can do something. It is the Majholi police station." The video then again shifts back to the brutal thrashing of the woman.
Claim 1:
We performed a Google reverse image search of the video in which a woman is being thrashed by men with sticks.
We found many reports which said a group of men thrashed a 19-year-old after she fled her husband's house. According to a report by The Indian Express published on 2 July 2021, the video of the incident was widely shared and it caught the attention of the cyber cell of Alirajpur police that began tracing the woman.
The report quoted the superintendent of police, Vijay Bhagwavi, as saying, "We have counselled the family and the woman is now with her mother. Our Mahila Bal Vikas team has been asked to ensure that all help is provided to her."
According to the police, the woman was unhappy in her marriage where she was perhaps being subjected to domestic violence. After she escaped for the second time, she was caught and thrashed by her family members.
We also found a tweet by the official Twitter account by the Moradabad police from 7 July 2021.
Claim 2: We performed a keyword search of the second video in which a boy can be seen in front of a police station. He mentions that it is the Majholi police station and Lodhipur, Bishnoi. The keyword search led to a YouTube video from 17 June 2021.
The video description reads, "In Moradabad, UP, there is a stir due to the death of a married woman. The matter is of the Majholi police station area of the district. So, expressing the apprehension of killing his sister, he is pleading for help on social media as no action is taken by the police."
The Moradabad police tweeted on 5 July 2021 saying that a video is going viral on social media regarding the police not taking action following the death of a woman. It said a case had been registered on 13 June under relevant sections and two accused were arrested and sent to jail.
It is evident that the video of the 19-year-old-girl being thrashed is from Madhya Pradesh from July while the video of the boy appealing to the people outside the police station is from Uttar Pradesh from June.
Therefore the viral claim is misleading as the video is created using two different clips from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
