Netizens claim Karnataka police hit Muslim women who were protesting against the hijab ban in educational institutions.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same video carried by Hindustan Times and NDTV. The reports said that the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad where the police were hitting Muslim women in burqa during a protest against the hijab ban.

According to a report by NDTV, an FIR has been filed by the police against the protesters over the incident. In the FIR, the police said that around 15 Muslim women had gathered without permission in Ghaziabad's Sani Bazaar Road with anti-government posters.
When the video in question went viral on social media and received criticism for use of force by the police on women, the Ghaziabad police released a note stating that they were investigating the incident.
According to the statement, no prior permission was taken by the women to hold the protest. The women police personnel and other policemen were beaten up by the protesting women and other persons present on the spot.
The same was also reported by DNA India News and ABP Live. Ghaziabad Police, in a statement, claimed that the protesters "attacked" the cops first.
Evidently, it is clear that the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh and not Karnataka. Thus, the claim is false.
