Hyderabad: A post is claiming that 27 pairs of hands were found in Siberia in 2020 and nobody knows where they came from

This was posted by an Instagram handle called "facts.for.all" which claims to post facts.

Fact Check:

The claim is false.

The chopped off hands were found in March 2018 by a fisherman while walking along the Amur river in Khabarovsk, Russia.

The same was reported by several news agencies like QZ.com which said the severed hands were discovered by a fisherman on 10 March 2018 in Siberia.

A similar article was published by USAToday.com on 9 March 2018. It said a mysterious bag containing 54 hands was found at a popular fishing spot in Siberia 20 km north of the Chinese border.

Further, this is not a mystery. It was later clarified that these hands were probably discarded, albeit improperly, by a laboratory. It was reported that these hands were found alongside medical bandages and surgical shoe covers, dw.com, a popular German news media channel, said in an article.

Identical reports were also published by other websites like Livescience.com and news agencies like Siberiantimes.com.

It is clear that the post is, in fact, a little dated. There are many reports proving the converse of the claim. Hence, the claim is false.
