Hyderabad: A tweet purportedly by Neeraj Chopra who won the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics, is being shared on social media.




Many Facebook users have been sharing the screenshot of the tweet.

Fact Check

The screenshot of the viral tweet is a hoax.

NewsMeter searched for Twitter handle @i_m_nirajchopra used in the viral tweet. However, we did not find any such Twitter handle.


We then searched for the real Twitter handle of Neeraj Chopra. We found that he has a verified Twitter handle.


We then searched if Neeraj Chopra has tweeted. His recent Tweet was on August 8, 2021.

"Still processing this feeling. To all of India and beyond, thank you so much for your support and blessings that have helped me reach this stage. This moment will live with me forever," he tweeted.

Neeraj Chopra won gold in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. In case he would have tweeted that would have been published by the mainstream media.

However, we did not find any such report.

It is therefore evident that the viral screenshot of the Tweet claiming to be of Neeraj Chopra is a hoax.
