HYDERABAD: A picture of a woman escorted by a female constable is circulating on social media. Users claim that she was arrested for killing her rapists.
According to the report, the woman in the viral image conspired to kill her fiance four days after their engagement. In December 2003, the lady identified as Shubha roped in her boyfriend, two of his friends, and killed her fiancé at air viewpoint on Domlur-Koramangala Ring Road.
The same was also reported by The New Indian Express, Bangalore Mirror, and The Hindu. The incident took place in December 2003 when the couple was at the Air View Point on Ring Road in Bangalore. The victim sustained a fatal blow on the left side of his head and collapsed. He was declared dead the next morning. In January 2004, police arrested Shubha, her then-boyfriend, and his accomplices for allegedly plotting her fiancé's murder. In May 2010, Fast Track Court convicted her for murder. In 2014, Shubha was granted bail by the Supreme Court.
"The Hindu" carried a timeline of the entire proceedings with the picture of the lady as seen in the viral image.
Clearly, the woman in the viral image was not arrested for killing her rapists but for murdering her fiancé.
Thus, the claim is false.
