Hyderabad: A photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief functional officer of an NGO in Delhi has gone viral on social media with the claim that the latter is Priti Adani, the wife of billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani. A few netizens are also claiming that Mr. Modi was bowing down to Adani.
Fact Check:
NewsMeter found that the woman seen with Mr. Modi in the viral image is Deepika Mondol, the chief functional officer of a Delhi-based NGO Divyajyoti Culture Organisation and Welfare Society.
A reverse image search led to a report by One India Hindi from 2018 that said the woman in the photo was indeed Deepika Mondol.
Articles by Amar Ujala and Divya Marathi from 2018 also confirmed the same. Amar Ujala also had photos of Ms. Mondol with APJ Abdul Kalam, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Shahrukh Khan, and Vidya Balan.
Below is a photo comparison of the woman in the viral image (Deepika Mondol) and Priti Adani.
It is clear that the woman with Mr. Modi in the viral photo is not Priti Adani. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
