Fact Check
The claim is misleading.
NewsMeter visited the official website of the Tokyo Olympics and found a table of Olympic medal counts.
We also found a tweet by Milind Soman congratulating the wrestler for winning a gold medal in the Olympics.
However, the actor refused to delete the tweet stating that it's ok to make mistakes sometimes.
Actor Vatsal Sheth had also congratulated the wrestler and later apologized for the confusion.
Through the keyword search, we found many reports published by the mainstream media about the wrestler winning gold in the World Cadet Wrestling Championship.
According to Times of India report, India grappler Priya Malik clinched gold at the World Cadet Wrestling Championships on Sunday. Malik defeated Kseniya Patapovich 5-0 in the summit clash and as a result, she won a gold medal at the World Cadet Championships in Hungary. Priya Malik won in the women's 73kg weight category. She has given the country another reason to smile as, on Saturday, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Zee News Hindi had also published an article about the wrestler. "India's daughter Priya Malik created history, won gold in this big tournament," reads its headline.
It is therefore evident that the viral claim is misleading. Priya Malik did not win a gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.
