Fact Check

Though NewsMeter found the information to be true, it is not the UP government but a German company offering the job to cannabis consumers.

We searched for the graphic on ABP’s Instagram account and found it posted on 16 February. As per the caption, a German company, Cannamedical, needs someone who can taste their product. It also said that the company is offering Rs 88 lakhs for the job.

On 16 February, ABP also published an article on the job offer by the German company. It said Cannamedical is looking for an expert who can check the quality of cannabis by “smelling, feeling, and smoking.”

The article also mentioned that the employee will be paid a salary of Rs 88 lakhs.

News18 and The Tribune also reported that a German pharmaceutical company has opened a job vacancy for ‘weed smokers’ with a salary of a whopping £88,000 (around Rs 88 lakh) to inspect the quality of its products.

Hence, we conclude that the Uttar Pradesh government is not offering jobs to cannabis consumers, and the claim is false.
