Is consuming cold drinks after consuming mangoes fatal? Let’s find out.

FACT CHECK

NewsMeter found the claim to be false.

To check whether the claim backs with any scientific evidence, we could not find anything related to consuming mangoes and a cold drink. We even could not trace any media report or medical cases registered of fatality post consuming the combination.

For better understanding, we contacted Dr. Aarathi Bellary, Consultant of Internal Medicine at KIMS Hospitals.

“This seems to be fake news doing rounds for a while now. As per scientific evidence, there is no such formation of poison. The citric acid content is negligible in Mangoes. Thus, the whole claim is quite absurd. Consuming mangoes and soft drinks which contain high sugars can increase one's sugars. Enjoy your mangoes in moderation...I would definitely say no to soft drinks any day,” he said.
