Fact Check: Fake website offering free recharge in the name of BJP
BJP is not giving any such offer to Indian citizens. The website asking for personal details is neither linked to the BJP nor the Government of India.

Hyderabad: A message about prime minister Narendra Modi and his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offering free recharge for three months is doing rounds on social media.
The message also carries a link purportedly to the website of the BJP, which asks for personal details. The message doesnāt specify the type of recharge either.
The message reads, āPM Narendra Modi is giving 3 Months Free recharge to all Indian users so that more and more people can vote for BJP in the 2024 elections and BJP government can be formed again. Click on the link given below to get 3 Months of Free Recharge. (Last Date - 31 OCTOBER 2023)... https://www.bjp.org@bjp2024.

Fact Check
NewsMeter verified that the BJP is not giving any such offer to Indian citizens. The website asking for personal details is neither linked to the BJP nor the Government of India.
We ran a keyword search about BJP offering free recharge to vote but did not find any news reports from credible media. Had the BJP, the ruling party at the Centre, or any of the state governments provided such an offer for votes, the mainstream media would have picked it up.
Next, we checked the BJP website but did not find any announcement of such offers. We also noticed the difference between the domain of the original website and the fake website. The domain name of the original website reads āwww.bjp.org/homeā and the fake one is āwww.bjp.org@bjp2024.
Further, we ran the website through the domain-checking website Whois and found it registered under the domain name āCrazyoffer.xyzā on August 24, 2023, and it expires on August 24, 2024. The location of the website is mentioned as the United States of America.

Hence, we conclude that the website offering free recharge in the name of BJP is a phishing website. Hence, we advise people to not click on the link and divulge personal details.
