Pakistani man trying to rape daughter? No, viral video is misleading

A seemingly family dispute video is widely circulating on social media with users claiming that the man seen in the video was attempting to rape his daughter.

An X user has shared the video with the caption ‘A Pakistani Jihadi attempted to rape his own daughter; when the girl runs to her mother to save her honour, her Jihadi father takes out the rifle to kill the daughter and her mother. Feeling sorry for that little kid’.

The same video was shared by several other users with the same claim.

We conducted a reverse image search on a few keyframes of the viral video and found several reports carrying the keyframes of the same video.

According to a report by express.pk ‘A man was arrested for packing up gun against wife during a family dispute in Punjab province of Pakistan’.

“The accused loaded a Kalashnikov gun on his wife during a quarrel at home, the video of which went viral on social media, after which a case was registered against the accused in the South Cantonment police station’, the report stated.

Another report by aajtv also said that ‘A husband who loaded a Kalashnikov to kill his wife over a domestic dispute was arrested in South Cantonment area of Lahore’.

Hence, we conclude that the man in the viral video was not trying to rape his daughter but it was a family dispute.
