A video depicting flames and smoke billowing into the sky, with multiple vehicles engulfed in fire, has been circulating widely on social media. Users sharing the footage claim it shows destruction at Adampur Airbase following an incident where an unexploded munition allegedly struck an oil tanker.

Linking the video to the skirmish between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, an X user shared the video with the caption, “Adampur India huge explosion reported in Indian Air Force base just now due to an oil tanker which got hit by an unexploded munition from the May 2025 war with Pakistan.” (Archive)

NewsMeter found the claim false. The video shows a fire breaking out in Mandiala village of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

A reverse image search of the video’s keyframes led to matching visuals of burning vehicles in footage published by ANI on August 23, 2025. The news agency reported that a massive fire erupted in Mandiala village, Hoshiarpur district, Punjab. ANI also reported that Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain stated that the fire is suspected to have originated from a road accident involving an LPG tanker in an industrial area, resulting in one reported fatality.

According to NDTV and The Times of India reports published on August 23, an LPG tanker collided with a pickup near Mandiala village in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, triggering a massive explosion and fire late on Friday night, August 22. The accident claimed at least two lives, while more than 20 people sustained severe burn injuries.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain was quoted as saying, “The fire broke out, probably due to a road accident. Patients with burn injuries have been admitted to the hospital. One casualty has been reported. It appears that a gas leak occurred following a road accident involving a gas tanker... This is an industrial area, so there may be some migrants who are injured here.”

The reports also noted that Punjab Minister Ravjot Singh visited the accident site and hospital, assuring government assistance to the affected families.
