HYDERABAD: A purported web link of Tata Motors has been circulating on WhatsApp. Users claim that the company is giving out a free TATA SAFARI to celebrate 30 million car unit sales.

This claim is false as no such announcement has been made by the company.
The viral link leads to an unrecognized webpage. The link neither has Tata Motors' logo nor does it redirect to the main page. The questionnaire follows the pattern of a scam set up that has quite often been observed in such unauthentic links.
Upon answering the questions, the user is directed to selecting a gift box; it should be noted that NewsMeter conducted several trials and has noticed that a winner is selected at the second chance. This indicates that not only is the link fake, the webpage also stores the user's IP address too, which clearly is a means of data theft and security breach from electronic devices.
Tata Motors has made no such announcement of giving out a free TATA SAFARI. Neither news reports nor any organization mentioned such offers on any social platform. It is advised to refrain from clicking the link and entering personal details which could lead to data theft.
NewsMeter also received official confirmation from Tata Motors that the viral link is a hoax. The company clearly states that there has been no announcement of such a contest and that they deny any association with such schemes.
