Following this, a video of a young girl went viral on Facebook. Social media users identify her as the student who ended her life. Netizens are sharing the video in remembrance of the girl.

The caption reads, "Speech of Kallakurichi student Smt. at school. Tearful tribute."

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter performed an Invid search and found that the same video was uploaded in December 2018 by a YouTube page called Kaumara Madalayam. The girl in the video was an 8th-standard student named K. Bhavadharani who gave a speech during a cultural and sports festival for rural students which was organized by Rotary Coimbatore Galaxy.

Polimer News reported that the viral video wrongly links the speech video to the death in Kallakurichi. Bhavadharani can be heard saying, "A video of mine that was taken many years ago when I gave a speech on Kamaraj history in a school is being shared online. Many of my relatives saw the video and thought that I had died, so they reached out to my family and asked about it. Many such videos of mine are being posted saying that the girl in the video is the one from Kallakurichi, but that is not the truth. We are two different people, I request the people to stop sharing this video."

The media outlet further says that the student filed a complaint with the police for this misinformation.

The girl in the viral video is not linked to the Kallakurichi student suicide news.
