HYDERABAD: A post claiming that Golden Temple has announced to bear the expenses of oxygen, medicines and ventilators of people in Punjab, is viral on social media.

FACT CHECK:

This claim is fake. Amritsar Golden temple has not made any announcement of bearing the entire expense of oxygen, medicines, and ventilators for Punjab.

We searched online for news reports on this issue and found none. No mainstream media organizations have reported anything on this issue.

In response to Shobhaa De's tweet, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the organization responsible for the management of Gurdwaras refuted the viral claim. The committee states that "no such announcement was made".

Although all expenses for oxygen, medicines, and ventilator will not be covered by the Golden temple, the patients are admitted to Covid care centers at Gurdwaras.

Two centers have been set up so far. These include 25-bedded center at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir, Ludhiana, and 50-bedded facility at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda. More are likely to come at Bholath and Patiala in Punjab, depending on the availability of doctors.

Hence, it is clear that the viral claim is false and misleading.
