Hyderabad: A message about Covid allowance is viral on social media.

"Receive your Covid 19 allowance (50000 Rs) from the world health organization (sic),'' reads the message.

The message has been circulating on WhatsApp groups with a link attached to it.

Social media users are asked to click on the link to receive Rs 50000 Covid 19 allowance from World Health Organization.

Fact Check:

The claim is false.

News Meter noticed that the link provided with the message is not the official website link of the World Health Organization. The official website of WHO is https://www.who.int/ However the link provided with the virally circulated message is very different.

Clicking on the link led us to a page that failed to load. This indirectly gives an indication that this is a third-party fake website.

We also found a spelling error in the message. The 'n' in the organization is repeated twice which is something that an official organization so reputed as the World Health Organization wouldn't do.

We also tried searching for any news articles related to the Covid 19 allowance by WHO but we find none.

Conclusion: Hence the viral message is false. WHO has not announced allowance of Rs 50,000
