Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The original video shows Sebastian Stan replacing a ‘Thunderbolts*’ movie poster with one titled ‘The New Avengers’ as part of a promotional stunt for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Through a keyword search, we found a related video posted by Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios) on May 5, 2025. The video featured Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Bucky Barnes, walking around town and replacing Thunderbolts* posters with ones titled The New Avengers as a marketing strategy for the latest Marvel film.
Additionally, a report from Hindustan Times, dated May 6, 2025, stated that Marvel India’s Instagram account posted a video of Sebastian Stan going around town and personally putting up fresh posters of Thunderbolts* with its new name, ‘The New Avengers’. The report was titled, “Sebastian Stan reveals mystery behind asterisk in Thunderbolts title; unveils new name. Internet calls it ‘spoiler’.”
We also observed discrepancies in the viral video. The rolling of the poster and transparency issues indicate that the actual The New Avengers poster was digitally edited to show ‘Tell Modi’ and ‘I Told Modi.’
Therefore, the claim is false. The video shows Sebastian Stan replacing a Thunderbolts* movie poster with one titled The New Avengers as part of a promotional stunt for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has nothing to do with prime minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan.
