Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The video shows India and Bangladesh cricket players fighting after the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2020.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led to an India Times article published on February 10, 2020, titled ‘ICC Will Review Footage Of Bangladesh Players’ Aggressive Behaviour, Reveals India U-19 Manager.’ The report was about a tussle between the Indian and Bangladeshi cricket teams after the ICC U-19 World Cup final ended with the latter winning the match.

The report included screenshots from the same video.

It mentioned that tensions flared as soon as the match ended, with Bangladeshi players rushing onto the field and displaying aggressive body language. The situation escalated to the point where players nearly came to blows before being separated by coaching staff and match officials.

Further, a Hindustan Times report published on the same day confirmed that the video is from the ICC U-19 World Cup final between India and Bangladesh in 2020.

The atmosphere turned ugly after Bangladesh secured victory, leading to physical confrontations between players from both sides. The report also featured screenshots from the viral video.

Additionally, a YouTube video of the incident, uploaded by Hindustan Times on February 10, 2020, matched the viral clip, confirming that it is unrelated to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The ICC U-19 World Cup 2020 final was held at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, South Africa, on February 9, 2020.

According to the official match scorecard, India U-19 was bowled out for 177 in 47.2 overs, while Bangladesh U-19 chased down a revised target of 170 in 42.1 overs, winning by three wickets via the DLS method. The Player of the Match was Akbar Ali and Yashasvi Jaiswal was named Player of the Series.

Interestingly, the live scorecard commentary from the match described the scene as it unfolded: “Under-19 cricket is fun. It’s fun because it's young and raw, the adrenaline is high and the maturity isn’t always there. You see teams losing games they had in the bag. The umpires really have to be vigilant, as the excitement level is generally high, and there’s always a possibility of youngsters crossing the line.”

Therefore, the viral video is an old clip from the ICC Under-19 World Cup final in 2020.
