A Facebook user shared the image with the caption, “Lal Chowk, picturesque scenery of Kashmir. Everyone was watching King Babar Azam’s batting…”
The image comes ahead of the India and Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2023. The match will be played on Saturday, September 2.

NewsMeter found that the image is morphed. The original image shows the crowd at Lal Chowk watching the live streaming of Chandrayaan-3 landing on the Lunar Surface.
A user in the comment section of the viral post shared a screenshot of Srinagar’s police post on X, which showed the crowd watching the live coverage of the Chandrayaan-3 landing.
Taking a cue from this, we searched for the Srinagar police post on X and found the original image shared on August 24. “People at Lal Chowk, Srinagar today witnessed Live coverage of Chandrayaan-3 Landing on the big screen at 'Lal Chowk Square'. @isro #Chandrayaan3,” read the caption
On August 23, News Agency ANI posted a video on X stating that a giant screen was put up at Srinagar's Lal Chowk to show the Chandrayaan-3 landing event.
Multiple media outlets reported that the landing of Chandrayaan-3 was live-streamed at Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
Hence, we conclude that the viral claim that people had gathered at Lal Chowk in Srinagar to watch the batting of Babar Azam is false.
