An image of the spiritual leader of Tibet Dalai Lama being arrested is viral on social media.

In the image, police officers can be seen dragging the spiritual leader.

Against the backdrop of the recent controversy for kissing and telling a young boy to lick his tongue, Dalai Lama caught the attention of social media users in the dark shade.

Even though, the Tibetan leader apologized for the interaction he had with the young boy, this picture of Dalai Lama being arrested has gone viral on social media.

Fact check

NewsMeter found that the viral image is fake and AI created.

While closely analyzing the viral image from the viral tweet, we found that there is an attachment along with the link that reads, “Readers added context they thought people might want to know.”

“The image is AI-generated. The figures in the background have deformed faces, including one man having three eyes. Hands are also misplaced. While the EFF has called for the Dalai Lama's arrest, no arrests have been made as of yet,” it reads.

Moreover, we also found an acknowledgment tweet by the creator of the image with the user name @Tianxiashunv.

We also found that the same Twitter account had been posting other AI images of the Dalai Lama.
