Hyderabad: A video of a huge crowd walking while holding the Indian national flag is circulating on social media. It is being claimed that the video is from the third day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra undertaken by the Congress party.
The Yatraāa 3,500-km foot-marchāstarted on 7 September and has been planned to revive the Congress party. The march is on its 12th day and has reached Punnapra of Kerala. It is scheduled to cover 12 states in 150 days.
Sharing the video, a Facebook user wrote, "It is the third day of Bharat Jodo Yatra and Rahul Gandhi is bringing back the hope of the people of India. The country has started returning to self-confidence again. The sight of this morning!!"
Several other users shared the video with similar claims. (Click here, here, and here to see the posts.)
Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the keyframes of the video and found an identical video of better resolution posted on Facebook by a user on 15 August. The caption says a massive crowd gathering during the Freedom March of the Congress party in Bengaluru.
Further, we ran a keyword search and found a video report by NDTV from 15 August. According to the report, over one lakh people attended the Freedom March organised by the Congress party in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The march was led by the state Congress president D.K Shivkumar.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra began on 7 September, and the viral video has been online since 15 August. The NDTV report also confirms that there were massive gatherings during the Freedom March organised by the Karnataka Congress.
Therefore, it is evident that the viral video is not from the third day of the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra. Hence, the claim is false.
