Claim:Haris Rauf’s house was burned down after Pakistan lost against India at the Asia Cup Super Four cricket match.
Fact:The claim is false. There is no proof to show that Haris Rauf’s house was set on fire after the match.

Hyderabad: The Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash between India and Pakistan took place on September 21 at the Dubai International Stadium. India chased the target Pakistan set and won the match with seven balls left.

During the match, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf made a provocative ‘6-0’ gesture and mimicked a fighter jet toward the crowd. The gesture refers to a claim that six Indian aircraft were allegedly shot down during Operation Sindoor in May.

In this context, social media users are claiming that after the match, Haris Rauf’s house in Pakistan was set on fire by cricket fans. They are sharing an image of a house on fire as proof of the incident.

The image, along with the photo of Haris Rauf, was shared by a Facebook user in a post. The text on the post reads, “Petrol Bombs Thrown Inside Pakistan Cricketer Haris Rauf’s House By Pak Fans, After Defeat Against India.”

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. There is no proof to show that Pakistan cricketer Haris Rauf’s house was set on fire.

Using keyword searches, we found that there are no mentions of Pakistan news reports about Haris Rauf’s house being set on fire.

We also checked the Instagram and Facebook handles of Haris Rauf and found no posts regarding his house being set on fire after the Super Four match loss.

Keyword searches have led us to a video shared on Instagram on August 13. The caption and the text on the video state that it shows Haris Rauf’s house in Faisal Town of Islamabad. The house has ‘Rauf’s’ written on it.

Another Facebook post shared a video of the same house on June 1 with the text, ‘Haris Rauf New House Faisal Town’ on the video.

Faisal Town is a housing project by a real estate company, Faisal Town Group, in Islamabad. Speaking to NewsMeter, a consultant at the Faisal Town Group, Ubaid Nasir, said, “There has been no such incident here in Faisal Town. Haris Rauf’s house was not burnt down, nor did anyone attempt to do it.”

Ubaid Nasir also shared a video of Haris Rauf’s house and its surroundings as of September 24, and it shows no damage from fire.

Ayesha Saghir, a Lahore-based journalist, confirmed the claim that Haris Rauf’s house being burnt down is fake and no such incident has taken place.

Therefore, it is clear that Pakistan cricketer Haris Rauf’s house was not burned down by fans after the defeat in the Super Four match with India.
