Hyderabad: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, several misleading videos and false claims related to the Indian Air Force (IAF) are circulating on social media.
One such video claims to show an Indian Air Force pilot landing on high-voltage electric wires after being shot down by Pakistan. The video is being shared with the narrative that Pakistanās Air Force has successfully taken down an Indian fighter aircraft.
An X user shared the video and wrote, āIndian pilot ejects from plane and ends up in hell after getting hit by electric wires. According to experts, Pakistan's Air Force has completely destroyed India's Air Force.ā (Archive)
Fact Check
NewsMeter found the claim to be false. The viral video is old and unrelated to any Indian Air Force operation.
Using Google Lens, we performed a reverse image search of the video's keyframes and found the same video in an Instagram post from March 16.
According to the post, the video was from Manali and showed an accident during a paragliding incident. The caption reads, "Four paragliding pilots had a narrow escape when a wind storm swept them away. The paragliders, who had taken off from the paragliding site in Dobhi near Manali, crash-landed at various locations, far off from the main landing site. A paraglider got stuck in a power line, another landed in a field, and one in a tree. All were rescued. #paragliding #dobhi #wildcone."
Usiy keyword search we also found the same video in a YouTube Short uploaded by JainNewsHimachal on March 16, 2025, titled: "Paraglider pilot stuck in electric wires due to a strong storm at the Dobhi paragliding site has been rescued safely." (Translated from Hindi)
The incident was also covered by media organisations. A report published by Amar Ujala dated March 17, 2025, stated that four paraglider pilots lost their way after take-off due to strong winds and poor weather conditions. While three landed safely, one got caught in electric wires near Tarashi forest and was later rescued by the local administration.

This confirms that the video is from a paragliding mishap in Himachal Pradesh and has no link to any military activity or conflict with Pakistan.
The claim that the video shows an IAF pilot ejected after a jet was shot down by Pakistan is false.
