Is the dragon attacking people in the video a real incident?

A Facebook reel depicting a dragon appearing from behind the mountain scaring people has gone viral on social media.

"OH MY GOD," reads the caption of the video.

In the mythologies, legends, and folktales, dragon is a large lizard- or serpent-like creature, conceived in some traditions as evil and others as beneficent.

We all know dragons aren't real.

FACT CHECK

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search that led us to the full version of the viral clip.

The viral clip is a tiny bit from a landslide in Beijing. The description of the video on the news channel 'CCTV Video News Agency' provides the full report of the incident.

"Traffic was stuck on the Junhong Road in Fangshan District -- a suburban area in southwestern Beijing -- due to a serious landslide there early on Saturday, with no casualties reported. About 30,000 cubic meters of heavy boulders and soil slid onto the road in Da'anshan Town of Fangshan at around 8:30 a.m., as heavy rainfall overnight loosened soil on the mountain nearby. Vehicles on both lanes of the road were held up," said the report.

Luckily, no casualties were reported, as a result, local government petrol men observed some fallen stones on the road, had the road closed immediately, and evacuated a nearby household. Just 10 minutes following the closure, a serious landslide happened, they added.

A similar report appeared in 'People's Daily, China' with the same visual.

Coming back to the viral video, we also found the dragon that is edited with this landslide video.

The dragon seen in the viral is taken from the 2020 Motion Picture `The Iron Mask'.

Hence, it is quite evident that the viral video is a result of CGI animated editing of the two videos together.
