The image could be seen on the image websites Imgur and 9gag as well. In the viral image, you can see a giant dog posing next to a human. The parity of height between the two seems unreal.
As per the caption, āA good boy, the last giant Irish wolfhound in 1902ā. The caption of the image indicates that the image was taken back in 1902 and the dog was the last one left of its kind. The viral image has left netizens astonished, whether it is a real photograph or an AI-generated image.

NewsMeter found the claim to be false.
On closely analysing the image, we found the paws of the giant dog distorted which indicates that there is high chance that the image is AI-generated or photoshopped.
Moreover, on carefully analyzing the comment section of the viral image on 9gag, we found a number of similar images of different animals.Through our search, we found that the image was originally posted on Aug. 31, 2023, on a Facebook group named Cursed AI run by a user Antoine Jo. It is quite evident that the page deals with AI creations.

Which clearly means that the image is AI-generated.
For further confirmation, we ran the image through an AI detection app Optic.AI which clearly indicated that the image is AI-generated.
