NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the video's keyframes and found similar photos in an article published by the Daily Mail on 21 October 2021. The article is titled "Heartbreaking end for a helpless baby monkey: Infant clings to its dead mother as leopard clamps her lifeless body in its jaws - before big cats devour both of them." It reported that the vervet monkey was killed by a leopard at South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The baby monkey refused to let go of its mother and clung on as the leopard carried the dead body in its jaw.
