HYDERABAD: A picture of two men sitting beside a pothole is viral on social media. Users claim Janasena activists in Andhra Pradesh digging potholes on good roads as per the orders of party founder Pawan Kalyan.
The picture is being shared with the caption, " As per PawanKalyan's call they are digging up the good roads, taking pictures, and posting on Twitter. They are saying that the roads are potholes. Janasena activists trending #GoodMorningCMSir."
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same picture in a report carried by The Hindu dated 21 June 2022. The picture shows residents of Honnetalu in Thirthahalli taluk of Shimoga district in Karnataka sitting beside a road whose surface is turning into potholes due to poorly executed construction work.
The residents alleged that the up-gradation of the road connecting their village to Durga Parameshwari temple had been poorly executed and that within a couple of months of the road being laid, the surface was coming undone resulting in the formation of potholes.
The same was also reported by Vijay Karnataka, a media organization in the state. The article clearly states that the picture shows Thirthahalli residents complaining about newly laid tarmac being worn down within just three months after laying new roads.
With this, it is clear that an unrelated picture is being shared with a false political agenda of Janasena activists in Andhra Pradesh digging potholes on good roads as per the orders of Pawan Kalyan.
