Fact:The claim is false. The video is old. Jr NTR was speaking against personal attacks made on Chandrababu Naidu’s wife, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, in 2021.
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Anantapur Urban MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad recently landed in controversy after an alleged audio clip of him making abusive comments against actor Jr NTR went viral. Fans of the actor staged a protest in front of the MLA’s office on August 17, demanding an apology.
In this context, a video is being circulated on social media with the claim that it shows Jr NTR’s response to the MLA’s comments.
In the clip, the actor says, “Whatever we talk about defines our personality. In politics, criticisms and retorts are quite common, but all those should be limited to public issues and should not be personal... Respecting women is our culture; it’s a tradition that is embedded in us, and we should carry it forward to our future generations.” (Translated from Telugu)

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The video is not connected to the recent controversy. It is from 2021.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to a report by India Herald, published on November 21, 2021, titled ‘Jr NTR got emotional and slams govt for derogatory comments against his aunt.’
The report stated that Jr NTR had condemned the YSRCP government’s personal attacks on his aunt, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, wife of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
We also found a report by The News Minute published on November 20, 2021.
The report mentioned that a day after Chandrababu Naidu broke down while addressing the media over the humiliation he said he faced from the ruling party, Jr NTR released a video on social media. In his statement, he urged that politics should be confined to public issues and not personal matters.
Further, we found the original video posted by Jr NTR on his official X handle on November 20, 2021. We also haven’t found any reliable news reports or social media posts sharing Jr NTR’s reaction to the MLA’s alleged comments on him.
