A video claiming to show suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh being detained ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-elections is going viral on social media.

Claim:Claim: The video shows suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh being detained in the wake of the Jubilee Hills by-elections.
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued the gazette notification for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, officially kickstarting the electoral process.
The bypoll, which was necessitated by the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June this year, will be held on November 11, and counting will take place on November 14.
Amid this, a video claiming to show suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh being detained by police is going viral on social media, with users linking it to the ongoing election campaign.
In the clip, Raja Singh can be seen surrounded by police and being taken into custody.
An X user shared the video with the caption, “This idiot is talking too much again, the time to go back to jail is getting closer! Just like a dog, he’ll be dragged and taken back again, just have a little patience” (Archive) (Translated from Hindi).
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is misleading. The video is old and unrelated to the Jubilee Hills by-election.
A keyword search led us to an NDTV report published on May 6, 2019. The report contained screenshots from a video which looked similar to the viral footage.
According to the report, T Raja Singh, who was then the lone BJP MLA in Telangana, visited the area to ‘enquire about the situation,’ after which the police detained him to prevent further escalation.
We also found a part of the viral video on X, posted by Raja Singh on May 5, 2019, with the caption, “Arrested by @hydcitypolice. Police Commissioner while opposing for Illegal masjid construction on road opposed by Hindu vahini & local Hindu karayakartas at Amberpet #Hyderabad.”

Furthermore, the fact-check handle of the Telangana government on Wednesday clarified that the video, currently being linked to the Jubilee Hills by-election, is actually old. It dates to May 5, 2019, when then-Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar ordered Raja Singh’s detention amid the Amberpet clashes. Raja Singh was released shortly after the preventive detention.

The viral video showing suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh being taken into custody is from May 2019. It is being falsely shared as recent in connection with the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Hence, the claim is misleading.
