Fact Check: Kavitha calls KTR villain in her life? No, Telugu e-paper clipping is fake
Claim:The Telugu e-newspaper clipping shows comments made by BRS MLC Kavitha against her brother and MLA KTR.
Fact:The claim is false. The news outlet ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™ does not exist, and the news being circulated in its name is fake.

Hyderabad: A news clipping claiming to show sensational comments made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha against the former minister, party working president and her brother, KT Rama Rao, is going viral on social media.

The news clipping titled ā€˜My brother is the villain in my lifeā€™ shows two images, one of Kavitha and the other KTR. Claiming that the BRS MLC made remarks against her brother during a chit-chat with the media, the news clipping reads, ā€œHe is deliberately keeping me away from party programs.ā€

The news clipping further claims that Kavitha said, ā€œHe (KTR) is threatening all the leaders who are close to me. He has completely failed in leading the party as the working president. If they stop me in the BRS party, I will continue my fight from the Jagruti Foundation."

The news clipping is dated March 25, 2025, with the byline appearing as ā€˜Telangana Scribe Digitalā€™. It contains a banner which consists of the Telangana Scribe logo, date, link to X account, and various social media profiles of the username ā€˜Telanganascribeā€™.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the viral claim is false. Telangana Scribe news outlet does not exist, and the viral Teugu news clipping is fake.

We did not find any credible news reports or social media posts showing MLC Kavithaā€™s remarks against the Telangana MLA and her brother, KT Rama Rao.

Using reverse image search, we found a March 9, 2023, report by ETV Bharat. The report used an image in which the BRS leader Kavitha can be seen wearing a red-striped blouse and cream saree similar to her outfit in the viral news clipping. The ETV Bharat report is titled, ā€˜Kavitha calls ED home for interrogation, agency prefers Delhi.ā€™

The report does not mention any fiery comments by Kavitha against KTR.

The link in the banner directed us to an X profile by the name ā€˜im dharaniā€™. The X profile has been inactive since February 2023 and does not have any posts relating to ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™.

We have searched on Facebook and X for the social media profiles of Telangana Scribe and found one with that name. However, we did not find any posts on these profiles referring to the viral post. The logo used on the profile pictures of these profiles is also different from the one in the news clipping. A comparison of both logos can be seen below.

We also conducted keyword searches on Google and Bing and found that the Telangana News Today Daily e-paper or its website does not exist anywhere.

Using Whois, we also found that the domains ā€˜telanganascribeā€™ and ā€˜telanganascribedigitalā€™ have not been registered yet.

We searched for the registration of ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™ and ā€˜Telangana Scribe Digitalā€™ on the website of the office of Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI) and found that the titles were not registered.

Therefore, we conclude the news outlet ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™ does not exist, and the newspaper clippings from this e-paper are fake.

When NewsMeter reached out for a comment, MLC Kavithaā€™s office rubbished the claim and said that Kavitha has never made such statements and that the viral news clipping is malicious propaganda. They also said that ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™ does not exist and stated that such fake news clippings have been frequently appearing on the internet to spread propaganda against Kavitha.

NewsMeter has debunked several such fake claims made using news clippings of another media outlet called Telangana News Today Daily, which also does not exist. You can read the report here.

Therefore, we conclude that not only does the news outlet ā€˜Telangana Scribeā€™ not exist, but the news being circulated in its name is also fake.
