Fact Check

NewsMeter found that no such statement was made by Adam Gilchrist or AB de Villiers.

We started our investigation by running a keyword search on Google but did not come across any report by credible media that reported any such statement made either by Adam Gilchrist or AB de Villiers. Both players have such a tall stature in international cricket, had they made such a statement, the media would have reported.

Further, we came across a report by Wisden titled ‘Never said this’ – Adam Gilchrist calls out fake Kohli-Tendulkar quote on social media.” It said Gilchrist has called out the fake statements attributed to him doing the rounds on social media.

Another website, Circle of Cricket, also reported Gilchrist denying his alleged statement over Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Both reports featured a post on X by Gilchrist calling out the user peddling the fake news.

Hence, we conclude that the statement attributed to Adam Gilchrist and AB de Villiers is false.
