Hyderabad: A video claiming to show Lord Rama’s bow being discovered from an ocean is going viral on social media.
In the video, we can see a huge bow being pulled out of the ocean, and the next clip shows a large bow on a ship while many policemen are seen standing on the deck.
The video was shared on Facebook with the caption, “Sri Rama’s divine weapon bow found in the sea” ((Translated from Telugu) (Archive)
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The video is generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We did not find any news reports or credible social media posts stating that Lord Rama’s bow was found.
Going through the Instagram profile that shared the video, we found a similar video claiming to be ‘Nagapash’ from Ramayana that was found in the ocean. This video was labelled ‘Ai Generated’ in Hindi.
The viral video looked digitally created as the bow in both clips is not the same. In the first clip, the bow has embedded red gemstones, while in the second clip, the large bow is missing the gems.
In the second clip, we can see indications of AI-generated content like distorted facial features, blurred movements of people, and disappearing and reappearing limbs.
To check whether the video is AI-generated, we used DeepFake-o-Meter. Three classifiers each produced results exceeding 50 per cent, indicating that the video is likely to have been generated using AI.
Therefore, NewsMeter concludes that the video is AI-generated.
