Daily Alokito Sakal also published a report on July 11 with the title, ‘Chakaria Cambrian High School principal and teacher representative accused of molesting students.’ (Archive)
The report stated that sources close to the victim said that on July 8, the principal entered the classroom and asked a Class 10 student if she had money in her pocket. “He then put his hand inside her school dress pocket and inappropriately touched her.”
Following this, on July 10, parents and students protested in front of the school. During the protest, Jahirul Islam called the parents into the school office through Yunus, the teachers’ representative, claiming to want to resolve the matter. Inside, he reportedly hurled obscene insults and harassed them.
The report further stated that the parents were angered by the obscene language and misconduct of the teachers, which led to a heated argument that eventually escalated into a physical confrontation.
Daily Alokito Sakal has quoted the principal, Jahirul Islam, who said, “The truth is, a group of conspirators among the teachers, who could not gain unethical benefits, are instigating the students, whom I consider like my own children, against me. This conspiracy is entirely the work of that group and no one else. Every classroom in my school is under CCTV surveillance. If any such misconduct of mine is found in the CCTV footage, I will resign from my position as headmaster and willingly accept whatever punishment is imposed on me under the laws of Bangladesh.”
