Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false.
We ran a keyword search and came across a report by The Indian Express from 31 March. It said on 30 March a Madurai court granted the Tamil Nadu police three-day custody of Youtuber Manish Kashyap to interrogate him in cases related to fake videos alleging assaults on migrant workers in Tamil Nadu. It also said Kashyap was arrested on 18 March by the Bihar policeās economic offences unit (EOU) after he surrendered. A special team of Tamil Nadu police then brought him to the state on a transit remand.
The Hindu reported that the police had sought seven days of custody of Kashyap, which was opposed by his lawyer Niranjan S. Kumar. Judicial Magistrate I V. Deelabanu granted three-day custody of Manish Kashyap and asked the police to produce him before the court on 3 April.
Speaking to NewsMeter, Niranjan S. Kumar said his client has not been given a clean cheat. On 3 April, the police sought more time for interrogation. Kashyap will be produced before the court again on 5 April.
Hence, we conclude that the claim that YouTuber Manish Kashyap has been given a clean cheat by a Madurai court is false.
