Man photographed with Sonia Gandhi is not Navneet Kalra

Several posts related to the seizure of oxygen concentrators from two top Delhi restaurants owned by businessman Navneet Kalra is viral on social media.

HYDERABAD: Several posts related to the seizure of oxygen concentrators from two top Delhi restaurants owned by businessman Navneet Kalra is viral on social media.

Town Hall and Khan Chacha restaurants are located in Delhi's Khan Market. Several posts critical of Kalra are viral on social media. Kalra is "absconding" according to the police.



Surrounding this topic, a picture of a man standing beside Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is viral on social media. Netizens are identifying the man as Navneet Kalra.

FACT CHECK:

The man in the viral image is not Navneet Kalra. He is Augusto Cabrera, a master chef turned entrepreneur at Town Hall.

We searched online for pictures of Navneet Kalra and found several news reports carrying his picture.


The viral image is taken from Navneet Kalra's Facebook. He shared this image in 2015 and tagged the man, in the viral image, who he identified as Augusto Cabrera. Upon using certain keywords, NewsMeter found that Augusto Cabrera is a Master Chef, turned Entrepreneur who designed the menu at Town Hall.



This clearly indicates the claim is false and the man is in the viral image is Augusto Cabrera and not Navneet Kalra

Delhi Police conducted raids at three upscale restaurants in Delhi and recovered 524 oxygen concentrators. Along with this, police recovered an audio clip where Navneet Kalra is purportedly heard discussing the allotment of the oxygen concentrators.

Between April 17 and May 3, Kalra and his aides from Matrix Cellular procured 7,500 concentrators worth Rs 13 crore (SOURCE; TIMES OF INDIA, INDIA TODAY)
